About Caribbean
Barbados, the most easterly of the West Indies, is an island of charm, warmth and sophistication. Signs of England's colonial past reverberate throughout this island. The beaches on the Caribbean side of the island are sandy; the Atlantic side of the island is much wilder with waves that pound the hilly and rugged side of the island.
The island has a friendly atmosphere with lovely people who are very accommodating and love good food. Fresh seafood is the word here, and it is found in all good restaurants, caught and served on the same day. Some of the Barbados' best restaurants are located on the water with open-air dining rooms and gentle breezes blowing through. The island is like an open air green house with colorful flowers throughout. It boasts over 125 varieties of plants and trees.
Barbados is warm and sunny all year with an average daytime high of 75-85 degrees with nights that are slightly cooler. The northeast trade winds blow steadily so that although it is bright and sunny, it is not unbearably hot. Rain comes in quick showers and the dry season is from January to June.
There is easy access to beaches, shopping areas, sailing, diving, touring, and jazz festivals.
