This 30,000 square foot villa, one of the largest on Lake Como, is an Italian landmark. Bellini wrote three famous operas on the property when he lived at the Palazzo. It is also known for housing two frescoes by Appiani, who was Napoleon's chief artist during his occupation of this region.
The interior of the home is extravagant. Guests enter via a large entrance hall with a majestic staircase, which leads up to the first and second floor suites. The entertainment is endless in the Palazzo with the following attractions: Music room, pizzeria, grand piano (from the Leipzig Concert Hall, Bluethner,) player piano, fitness room, wine room, cinema, billiard room, two offices, and countless working fireplaces throughout the house, including many in the bedroom suites.
All the suites have been individually named and are beautifully decorated with antique furniture, artwork and decorative wallpaper. They all enjoy beautiful views of the lake and surrounding mountains. Most of the rooms have an ensuite bathroom.
The kitchen is enormous with a grill, steamer, two ovens, sub zero refrigerators and two unique fireplaces. There are two dining rooms, one large oval-shaped room with marble columns and a ceiling featuring one of Appiani's most important frescoes. The walls in this dining room are richly painted in faux marble and the furniture is a combination of English and Italian antiques. The room contains Venetian glass wall lights and decorative seminato floors that are original to the villa.
The exterior features six acres of gardens, falling from the top of Moltrasio to the Lake's shore. The property consists of an orchard, olive grove, flower garden, vegetable garden, rose garden, formal Italian garden and swimming pool. Palazzo Di Lago Como is the perfect base to explore the surrounding region.
