Greve in Chianti is the number one village in Chianti (DK Eyewitness Top 10 Tuscany Travel Guide) for many good reasons, and together with your beautiful villa an unforgettable holiday is waiting. While the charming Tuscan village of Greve is situated in the very heart of the famed Chianti Classico, it is only 25km from Florence and 30km from Siena (on the very scenic Chiantigiana road), and is the perfect base to explore the gems of the region. Greve boasts as being the capital of Chianti - there are plenty of restaurants, wine bars and shops, delicatessens, fruit and vegetable shops, a lovely Saturday morning market, local wineries to visit and the popular Macelleria Falorni, one of Italy's greatest butchers. The small hilltop village of Panzano is close and is the home of Dario Cecchini, arguably Italy's best butcher.
The villa is located on the hills 2.5km above Greve and is on the estate of one of the most prominent boutiques wineries in the Chianti Classico appellation. Guests can come to the Villa and visit the cellars as well as taste and purchase the estates?s fine wines and extra-virgin olive oil. The estate itself comprises vineyards, olive groves and is surrounded by woods, ideal for relaxing walks. The property is stunningly beautiful - "picture perfect" - in the middle of totally unspoilt countryside.
Villa Lavanda is a beautiful 17th Century restored classic Tuscan farmhouse and while being entirely renovated to a high standard, it retains many of its original architectural features. The house 350m² is located at the top of the 150ha estate, 200m away from the main road, at the end of a private drive. The house is surrounded by vineyards, olive groves, cypress trees, and forests with views extending to the Apennines mountains. A perfect place for a comfortable and relaxing holiday, in harmony with nature and a real sense of space. The house boasts a large private landscaped garden (designed by world renowned botanist Donald Leevers) and consists of Mediterranean aromatic essences, old English roses and lavender.
