Cote D'Azur

The Côte d'Azur is one of the most famous resorts in the world. The coastline stretches along southern France between Menton and Marseille. Its very name evokes sparkling azure-blue waters, sunny indigo skies, endless beaches, glamorous yachts, evening air perfumed with jasmine and mimosa, parasol pines silhouetted against golden sunsets and escapism from the mundane. As a playground for the rich and famous, the Côte d'Azur has represented these things for decades. Recently, parts of the area have become increasingly developed, particularly at the eastern end known as the French Riviera, but travelers will always be attracted to the magic of this region. There is no escaping the reality of its warm climate, its scenery and the enchanting perched medieval villages. The small cobbled lanes here are filled with galleries, boutiques, cafés and restaurants, packed to bursting in the summer months, but retaining an undiminished charm. This is the region that first attracted Picasso, Matisse, Chagall and Renoir and it still keeps the Belle Epoque alive.
